Send me a DM if you or someone you know is interested.
Last night at a Mexico City speakeasy, I was seated with:
1. A British couple on their honeymoon
2. Two friends from Israel
Here's what I learned about their perspective on the US:
- The world doesn’t revolve around the US (but it kinda does)
- Israelis listen to Chris Stapleton
- Brits prefer the US version of The Office vs the UK version
- Brits think American food is ribs / barbecue
- Israelis have a blunt nature and think Americans act "fake"
- Brits call sprite “lemonade”
- Israel is so diverse that you could drive 90 minutes in any direction and cultures / accents drastically change
- Brits call soda “fizzy drinks”. They would say “do you have any fizzy drinks?” (I laughed out loud when I heard this)
- If you explore the Middle East, go to Israel last because surrounding countries hate Israel
- Brits drink Squash juice
Last note that was super interesting...
I asked everyone what they learn about the United States in school.
They're answer?
"Nothing."
When I started my first company (@greenbox_storag) I had the ultimate cheat code:
4,000 email addresses of my exact target market.
I didn't have that when launching FounderBrands... so I needed another distribution method.
So I built my social media accounts to 14,000 followers.
Distribution should be your number 1 focus in startup mode.
One of the wildest travel experiences I’ve ever had.
In Colombia, my fiancée and I decided to rent jet skis.
A random guy in a boat picked us up, dropped us at a dock, and pointed to the machines.
We hopped on and rode off. That was it.
No questions about whether we knew how to drive.
No liability waiver. No deposit. No instructions on where to go.
We could’ve easily stolen them.
In the US, this would be impossible. You’d be buried in paperwork before you touched the water.
In South America, things are just… looser.
