Every lawyer - no, every person, needs to learn the art of surrender.
The more time I spend in the profession, the more I notice this: People who rarely complain almost always succeed. And the ones who constantly complain are always stuck.
At first, I assumed it was because the non-complainers work harder.
But over time I realised, it’s something deeper. Something harder to measure. The ones who succeed work with life, not against it.
They’re not shy to take on more. They don’t feel harassed when overworked. They don’t resist what life throws at them. And it’s this quiet willingness that opens doors.
From a young age, we’re taught to fight. To make sure the world is fair to us.
But don’t be so rigid in your thinking that you miss the sun on your face.
Sometimes, surrender is not weakness. It’s strength.
Next time you feel like complaining, go with the flow instead. And you might just start to see your world change.
