The UPND 2026 - 2031 manifesto does not sound like a document drafted by a party in government.
There is no actual mechanics of getting things done - no specific targeted policy points, regulations, processes or workflow - no nitty-gritty practical stuff.
Just waffling open wishlist statements.
"In partnership with the Zambian private sector, the UPND Government will work to create millions of new jobs in the years [missing "to" here] come, driven by investment in skills and enterprise across every sector and every province."
The private sector told you this?
Which specific investors, companies or businesses have committed to invest and create those jobs?
What exactly are the people who will be employed be doing - what services or products will be created & for which market?
How do you estimate the jobs will number into millions without any specific investment commitments?
@UPNDZM@HHichilema
No Brian, that’s your logic, not mine. You are reading into my tweet a little too much.
Mine is, he chaired a cabinet meeting, where this Bill was introduced and debated, then approved, consulted the AG’s office and got clearance, then sent to parliament. He can’t act surprised now. He knew what the Bill was about and its effects on the public.
Especially coming from someone that bitterly complained about the POA.
Are you suggesting that he was outvoted by his ministers and he had to wait for assent to shoot down the Bill ?
The assent stage is there precisely because a President can decide not to assent to a Bill after further consideration. He did exactly that. You still have a problem with it 🤷🏻♂️
@damweembs Dr Musokotwane is clear in his budget Speech, "End of August , reserves are at $2.9 billion. This record is still at Parliament, and is repeated in subsequent budget speeches.. These records are also still MOF website. Unless you say the good Dr and MOF are lying.
Dr Musokotwane Budget Speech to Parliament in November, 2021, says as at end of August 2021, reserves stood at $2.9Billion. Why are so called educated and researchers repeating the $1.2 billion story???

Who, among the opposition candidates, will protect the reserves of $6.7 Billion Dollars that president @HHichilema has gathered in the last 4 years?
If we change government this August, will the opposition manage to protect the $6.7 Billion Dollars money kept at the Bank of Zambia? Will they manage to increase it?
From Dora Siliya.
Conversations about foreign nationals doing business in Zambia must be properly contextualized & correctly classified. While I desire presence of local capital in major businesses like mines, I care less who sells bread at the corner shop in our location - they're just as poor anyway & certain conversations can risk their lives, especially in an election year. #Zambia
@FMwenge They are copy-paste xenophobic rhetoric from SA reducing structural inequality to blaming foreign traders, ignoring root causes, & fuelling division. It doesn’t fit Zambia: we have real challenges, but a long history of hosting & integrating with others it’s not who we are.
@briandemu@EdgarMwango@Elijah_Kafula@HHichilema Dr Musokotwane Budget Speech to Parliament in 2021, says as at end of August 2021 reserves, stood at $2.9Billion. So he was lying and you are telling the truth?

The Bill had already received Cabinet approval prior to being introduced in Parliament. Consequently, the President had the opportunity to withhold or reject the proposed legislation at the Cabinet stage before it proceeded to Parliament for debate and enactment.
Let me tighten this for you.
"GDP measures activity, not prosperity. A busy economy where families remain trapped in survival mode is not progress. If the farmer, miller, trader, and transporter cannot convert their work into lasting wealth, then GDP growth is just noise. Movement without mobility."
😉
You are welcome. Thank you for your attention to this matter. DEAN N ONYAMBU, Founder and Chief Strategist, Canary Compass.
Im so delighted that HH has declined to sign this. The distress he went through in his years of opposition was because of the abuse of such bills and he is right to decline it.
We must learn to acknowledge good things our leaders do... a muzungu friend of mine was complaining about something the other week and I said 'iwe, stop complaining ' and he responded 'ahhh Phiri, I'm a Zambian, that's what we do"
He's right and we had a good laugh but we do have to change this trait
As for me, on this issue I'd just like to say ' thanks Bally, you did the right thing'. Public freedom and the right to freely participate in politics is VERY IMPORTANT for Zambians, even more important than complaining 🤣🤣!
@Dhaakir_@AfriMudu@Malik_ZMB So the president has also poor reading culture, and same poor reading culture and listening to useless politicians has led him to reject signing it for being against constitutional rights?
@AfriMudu@Malik_ZMB According the president, its provisions are against the constitution and human rights. Guess you are right than the president on this...
@WhiteLotusTeach@Anarchy_Me_ The Police Commissioner in Mazabuka when suspending campaigns and any public gathering, purportedly refered to Section 9 of the Public Gathering Act.
😂😂
He is the Head of the Executive Branch of government.
The Executive Branch came up with the Bill.
We are supposed to believe that he has just come to this realization now.
Since we are all 12 years old and from Mporokoso, Okay. 😂
