I grew up in a Zionist household, spent 12 years in a Zionist youth movement, lived 4 years in Israel, and have friends and family who served in the IDF.

When that is your world, it's hard to see apartheid when it's happening.

If after 80 years and dozens of right-wing, centrist, and left-wing goverments, at no point in time Israel *ever* treated Palestinians with dignity & justice, then believing that Israel will one day become just is... delusional.

Zionism wasn't a good idea. Let's move on.

Liberal Zionism means believing that Israel must remain a Jewish state *and* that Israel can and should be just to Palestinians.

In many ways, being liberal Zionist in 2025 is being delusional:

And of course, Israel wasn't just to Palestinians when it stranded Gaza under an economic blockade, repeatedly launched murderous wars, and eventually committed genocide against the Palestinian people.
