@cea_forster I have seen all but one of my grandparents this way. I find it an essential part of the grieving process, though I realise it isn't for everyone.
I'm glad you found it a positive experience.
@FakeHeadteacher One year my old school issued us with markers to name any unnamed jumpers etc.
The next week we spent fielding complaints from parents who objected.
@Mr_SPrimary@MrTs_NQTs Be careful how you interpret the feedback too - remember that what one school is looking for won't be what another wants. Be yourself and you will find the right thing. I have just been through it too, but last week got a job I feel very optimistic about.
@CensoredHead I agree and disagree. Overall, I think schools need to carefully weigh up the cost / benefit of the trip. For some children, these outings are their only opportunity to see a wider world; opportunities they might not otherwise get. It's a thorny problem for sure.
@GrinchManifesto @teambean28 @CensoredHead Although this seems logical in theory, if a child does an activity / trip with school, the cost is usually cheaper per head for school groups and parents are paying for one child only. If parents take a child, they are paying for 1 or 2 adults and possibly siblings in addition.π¬
@EmathsUK Turning on subtitles on children's tv equally isn't a new idea, but would improve a child's chances of leaving school a proficient reader enormously. https://t.co/FHQw6zmjzq
@LadyPerinbridge I've listened to it and I did enjoy it, but I suspect it is better read the normal way.
Once Upon a River, also by @DianeSetterfie1 is incredible - I can't recommend it enough (if you haven't already read it!)
@smerchant13 It's based in a historical setting, but not historical fiction per se. #onceuponariver by Diane Setterfield is one of the best books I've ever read.
@Hugsutd01@mr_englishteach If someone makes me feel like I'm doing well, I'll keep trying. If I feel I'm not, I lose motivation: I lack resilience. If my partner gets praise too easily, slacks off and doesn't try. He does the minimum.
If there is something I've learnt It's that one size doesn't fit all.
@_MrsC_S I feel your pain! I hate cooking for my partner's kids because unless it is processed food, they either cry or push it around their plate looking sad, which makes me feel so guilty.
@lornaeloise@JAnnTeacher@alephbetsoup There is a school I visit regularly whoch has an array of supplies including moon cups, which I think is incredible. It makes sense on so many levels, but what an incredible way to tell the girls their periods, planet and general health are important.
