Coming soon to Aave v3 Ethereum
i learned ~10 years ago that i am my own worst enemy when it comes to investing. almost everyone is, but very few people realize it
i started building (and retaining) more serious wealth once i realized this
a few realizations which helped me:
1) ignore comparing yourself to others here. the algo amplifies people who are in the best, latest trade. half of them may be LARPing, and half may be real. come to terms with accepting there will always be people who earn more than you. BUT do you really care if you make 50x in an investment and someone else makes 500x?? do you want to become financially independent and live a lifestyle you and your family are proud of and give generously to others? or do you want to be the next 3AC, SBF, etc.? or less severely, the guy who roundtrips life-changing gains?
you aren't a hedge fund manager. you aren't a VC. you don't have LPs. you're taking risks with your own money. you're accountable only to yourself and your family. you don't owe returns or explanations to anyone but yourself.
2) the default positioning is your assets will likely go up in value during a bull market, almost irrespective of what they are. you don't need to be in the fastest assets at all times to have literally life changing returns. but if you trade in and out of your assets too often, you will very likely underperform just buying and conviction holding a few things with a coherent thesis across the duration of a cycle
3) once you get to a certain portfolio size (maybe mid-7 figs), you can really let time and compounding do most of the work and outperform 99% of the people you know irl and maybe 90% of the people you see on this site. that is the time to make risk-managed decisions with at least 50%-80% of your portfolio so you can be a bit more degen with the rest
4) always keep a lot of cash in your savings account (i.e., more than you think you need). this money is there purely for emotional ballast- so you feel secure even if the market dumps 30% to 40%. if you are lucky enough to have done really well here (high 7 or 8+ figs), make it like 5 years worth of conservative living expenses. 1 year for others, and 3-6 months at a minimum. keep half that bank CDs and don't early withdraw unless it's an emergency
5) take no more than 5% of your portfolio and make it a more active trading account. do whatever you want with this money during a bull market. if you outperform your core portfolio, great. if you don't, you've insulated yourself against your worst emotions. take the remaining 95% of your portfolio and don't trade it during a bull. sell to USD, ETH, BTC, or whatever asset you want to accumulate when the time is right
i know these suggestions will fall flat for a lot of folks here as many (including myself) have degenerate gambling tendencies sometimes
but i think this site sometimes presents a skewed version of reality, and one day, you'll possibly logoff partially or completely, and you'll realize nothing here really mattered as much as the stuff irl, and it won't matter that some other cartoon pfp had a big (or even a lot) more money than you
Wrong decisions in the bull market can cost you life-changing money.💵
In my first bull run, I went from $5k to $350k and again back to $40k.
Here are 12 lessons that I now use daily which will give you an edge to not just survive, but THRIVE in the upcoming bull market. 🧵

Security is something that is very expensive when everything is quiet and then it becomes obviously cheaper when weigh to the consequences of the worst thing happening.
You are lucky if you can learn and make it back from one incident, most don’t.
At Blocksec, we often receive many emails from phishing victims seeking help. It's heartbreaking. If they can take an Approval Diagnosis in MetaDock, the loss could be avoided.
