Besides being the first Latina president of a U.S. television network she is a real estate magnate and an advocate for empowering women entrepreneurially.
Here are 4 tips for success from Nely Galan a self-made media mogul:
1. “Don’t buy shoes, buy buildings." A quote Nely uses to advise women when they feel down — going on a shopping spree is short-term thinking.
2. Befriend fear. “I say that fear and failure are my two best friends," said Nely. "I’m afraid every day of my life. When I’m afraid, I know it’s guiding me to what I must do." Nely advises not to let fear stop you from moving forward in your career. Instead, take it as a sign that you're where you're meant to me. If the fear is extremely paralyzing, try zeroing in on what it is you're afraid of. Then create a list of all the potential scenarios and all the tools you have to deal with them if they did manifest.
3. Find strength in your failure resume being longer than your success resume. Nely explains how her "failure resume" is longer than her success resume. She went to emphasize that there’s no shame in this. The length of anyone’s failure resume simply means that they were brave enough to try.
4. "Make money, save money, invest the money and then, you'll make money while you sleep.” Those are the keys to becoming a Self Made entrepreneur.
