And then they sent ambassadors to other countries to lecture those governments about transparency and rule of law.

one of the most astonishing realities to reflect upon is:

Whoever seeks something through what earns the displeasure of الله is punished through that very thing.

One person seeks a freedom unrestricted by the religion of الله,

only to become a slave owned by his own desires, obedient to them, humbled before them, unable to refuse them wherever they lead him.

Another seeks pleasure and enjoyment through what الله has forbidden,

only to reap pain many times greater than the fleeting pleasure he once tasted, until that very pleasure becomes nothing but regret and torment.

Another longs for the pleasure of someone he loves, pleasing that person through what angers الله,

only for that very person to become displeased with him and abandon him.

In the end, he gains neither the pleasure of the one he chased nor the pleasure of his First and Greatest Beloved, his Lord, the Most High.

Another pursues wealth through haram, hoping to live a 'comfortable and happy life',

only for that wealth to become the very cause of his misery, dragging him into hardship, grief, and regret, until his life becomes one of exhaustion and distress.

The more I reflect on this reality, the more certain I become that there is no true success, no real happiness, and no good life

except in seeking the pleasure of الله and drawing near to Him.

Through that, a person attains the sweetest life in this world, and his Lord blesses him with His mercy and favor, and in the Hereafter with a Garden whose breadth is like that of the heavens and the earth.

Thus he attains the good of this world and the next, and lives in blessing in both abodes.

How great is the success of the one who chose the pleasure of الله as his highest aim, made it the greatest pursuit of his heart, strove for it, remained patient upon it, and met his Lord in that state.

That is the clear triumph.

And how miserable, regretful, and ruined is the one who traded the Hereafter for a handful of this passing world.

He gained neither the sweetness of life in this world nor success in the next. He lost both this world and the Hereafter.

That indeed is the clearest loss.
