The Global Sumud Flotilla was carrying humanitarian aid and international activists and sought to break Israel’s illegal blockade of the occupied Gaza Strip.
The interception by Israeli forces constitutes a clear violation of international law, putting the safety of those on the boats at risk.
The crews were unarmed activists, doctors, parliamentarians, journalists and human rights defenders on a humanitarian mission, they must be released immediately and unconditionally. They must also be protected from torture and other ill-treatment pending their release.
