I was glad to be part of “කොළඹ අහස", an event to mark the 23rd death anniversary of Ranbanda Seneviratne, the respected senior lawyer, lyricist & poet. Many thanks to Colombo Law Society for organizing this evening of poignant discussions, lovely music & memories of his legacy..
The lack of mandate & public backing spells the inevitable downfall of the current govt. However, a more concerning trend is the rise of a Left-wing populist movement like the #NPP, hell-bent on creating a state-controlled economy. This debate is critical to address this issue..
India's steadfast commitment to economic reforms since 1991, even amidst govt. changes, is truly inspiring. It's a contrast to #SriLanka's habit of backtracking after every election, stalling our progress. @gen_sl's cross-party framework is a chance to break free from this cycle.
I believe it is now time for Sri Lanka to pursue politics of policies as opposed to politics of identities.
It is only by doing so, we can achieve policy continuity, which is integral for economic growth and prosperity.
It is time to transcend the political divide and come together to formulate a National Governance Policy Framework, which would facilitate governance and the implementation of the rule of law.
@gen_sl The future is in the hands of the youth, and I believe your organisation can make the initial steps towards what's described above.
Signed copies of my three books can be purchased from KBOOKS.. Hopefully, there will be a new addition to this collection this year 😊 Read these books and let me know your thoughts..

Two-day session to develop a cross-party framework for economic development & governance with the involvement of 15 political parties. Great inputs given by @advocatalk to prepare a zero draft. Hopefully we can work on it and come up with a comprehensive document within a month.
Children of all ages were invited to watch “Kung Fu Panda 4”, contributing to the creation of a more accepting & supportive world for individuals with autism. It was a lovely and heart-warming experience to attend this event and witness the excitement of those children ❤️😊 (2/2)
#SriLanka College of Pediatricians and the Family Health Bureau, in partnership with NAMASTE Sri Lanka, organised an autism-friendly movie screening at the Scope Cinemas in the Colombo City Centre. (1/2)
Had an engaging discussion with a diverse youth audience about the imperative of economic reforms for #SriLanka's progress. Emphasized the vital role of reforms in shaping our future. Grateful for the opportunity to foster a pro-reform dialogue among the youth! #lka#SOEReforms
This was an unforgettable evening with the launch of ‘Prana’, three books written by me focusing on three different aspects of life. The event was a huge success, with great crowds, great vibes & lovely music. So grateful to everyone who came out to support my work. #SriLanka
Sri Lanka had a famous cricket rivalry with #Australia back in the day.
Now, we have a “rivalry” with Bangladesh.
This is අනිත්යය!

A Lankan Buddhist monk faces court in #Melbourne, charged with child sex offenses from the 1990s. A reminder that justice knows no bounds of time. The key question is: how can we prevent child abuse in religious establishments? We often tend to keep such issues under the carpet.
UNICEF says Sri Lanka currently allocates less than 2% of its GDP to education, far below the recommended international benchmark of 4-6%. Urgent action is needed to prioritize and invest in education for a better future. (2/2)
Alarming statistics from a recent media report show that 85% of grade 3 children in Sri Lanka are not reaching minimum proficiency in literacy and numeracy. Shockingly, the country ranks the lowest in education spending among South Asian nations. (1/2)
A nation's tax system should not be wielded as a tool for bias or vengeance! It must be based on the principles of neutrality, equity, simplicity, & stability, and embody fairness.. Had an insightful engagement with speakers from the Govt., SJB, & NPP on this topic last evening.
Govt-owned SLRC's struggling subsidiary Channel Eye drains resources and operates at a loss. Govt. leased it to LYCA Group (which owns Swarnavahini) in a controversial deal. Why not opt for transparent bidding instead of mystery? What’s the need for all this rush & secrecy? #lka
Devastating incident at Dehiwala Zoo: Upul Senarath, Chief of Security, tragically lost his life when an uprooted tree collided with an electricity pole, leaving him trapped. Cruel twist of fate and a stark reminder of life's fragility. My thoughts are with his family.
