East Germany was dissolved on October 3, 1990. The Czechoslovak Velvet Revolution took place that month & the Romanian one in December 1989. Lech Walesa became president of Poland only a year later, Russian troops leaving only 3 years later. The Yugoslav Wars only commenced then & continued for years. These events only commenced processes which took many years. Eastern Europe was definitely a thing well into the 2000s.
