Perfect Saturday, Carrie and Els coming around to the cold too, fun to have fellow dippers. Even with the inflationary effects on ice (took 160 lbs worth), still nothing like some chill. #icebath
After reading Breath by @MrJamesNestor, I see that the nose is way more of everything than most of us have ever thought.
Whether you're a health nerd who's curious about how all our pieces work, or interested in the history of what makes us all go -- #Breath is worth a look.
Embracing the fact that your customers are a lot more heterogenous than you might like, and loosening your grip on the need to wedge them into tidy demographic buckets, you tend to focus on the underlying jobs these diverse folks turned to you for help with in the first place.
Love this idea that if you focus on users more than buyers you'll get more of both. @markbonchek and @vivek_bapat wrote about it some years back and it holds up. The Most Successful Brands Focus on Users — Not Buyers here: https://t.co/rNLRxmwVn5
I'm often asked if customer insight #consulting & #coaching share anything or are they different pursuits..To me a bright common thread runs through both better questions & better listening to help people/org's see their growth possibilities from some new perch & and act on them.
Another question to jumpstart your customer learning journey.
The questions can be about something big, small… doesn’t really matter,
as long as it’s something you’re actively curious about AND will help you do something differently in the short run.
#atomichabits holds up really well based on how often ideas from it come up in coaching convos. Like the idea that willpower is over-rated. To be successful at habits,we’ll have better luck if they’re less about what we force ourselves to do & more about who we want to become.
Rather than the typical either-or view where you're fast or slow.... Festina Lente says you can both be focused on moving fast, and anchored in doing so with intention. And be defining what that tension means for you, your team, your situation as it evolves.
Good questions we don't ask enough, or often don't understand well. #customerlearning
If you had a magic wand and could change anything you want about the experience, what would you change?
A good thing to ask yourself in relationships of all sorts
"What am I thinking, feeling and NOT saying?"
If there's a consistent thing you're not saying, an important thing... that's something to pay attention to.
Here's to good hard questions and the pause to chew on them.
Why do you do that? I get asked that a lot about ice baths - It's because I feel like a superhero after. Thanks to biological processes and releases in our body triggered by cold exposure.. (If that makes you curious, @Huberman Lab Podcast, Deliberate Cold Exposure, go!).
Good read #atomichabits. Discovering that to be successful at habits, we’ll have better luck if they’re less about what we want to do but more about who we want to become.
What an education working with @Tend_health. Helping people access what's in poop (superpower of the gut microbiome that's what) for healing. Cool moment for them announcing 1st study, stepping out with new name, brand. Whole nother level of power within.
Today, we announced the initiation of a clinical study evaluating our Gut Microbiome CAP device for the delivery of #FMT in collaboration with @MassGeneralNews.
Our device standardizes, simplifies, and reduces costs of FMT for patients with #cdiff. More: https://t.co/Ffw8FHpJJ3

Increasingly interested in the frame of what's regenerative vs. extractive... in multiple domains of life. though reading this on regen ag, reminded how often we make things either-or, when reality is more like both-and. like with raising animal protein. https://t.co/uQTh8C6cnp
Seems to me the Q isn't if cancel culture is a thing, w/ risks - it is. But new (ask @thechicks)? Unique to 1 political home, any more than reconciliation & other "outrages"? Q is when do we get the courage to break the cycle, stop passing the cudgel back & forth every few years.
Favorite line... (thanks Abe), “my whole soul is in it”. Take that together with “hear me out”... gives a glimmer of hope for more earnest, purple work.
digging notion of "cognitive empathy" (distinct from emotional empathy). reminds me of coaching tenet, listening doesn't equal agreement.
i.e. I can listen to you, really take in what you're saying, without it meaning I agree.
nd to work it more.
