I love giving these students a challenge and watching them persevere!
For our intro task, they completed a clothesline activity that included the correct placement of fractions, decimals, and models on a number line - even beyond one whole! I’m very proud of them!
One thing I love about my students is turning the class over to them to let them lead deep discussions to share thinking. They’ve worked this week on interpreting & analyzing graphs that detail changes in the environment, as well as solving multistep math tasks. #proudteacher
I want to give a special thanks to our guest readers for participating in #ReadingInSchoolsDay , including our own CGE assistant principal, Mrs. Garner! The kids loved the stories!
Good mathematicians look for structure and regularity! Look at these 4th graders observing and representing numerical patterns!

How to tackle a complex, multi-step word problem? Draw a model to group and organize the information! It’s what good mathematicians do!

How old is the shepherd?? It doesn’t give me enough information!
What do good mathematicians do? They MAKE SENSE of the problem!

Great first day back at CGE! I’m so excited for this new bunch of 4th graders. Mrs. Gentry and I spent a lot of time discussing expectations and doing fun “getting to know you” activities.
The rain didn’t scare these kids away from running today! Proud of them for running their mile without excuses or complaints💪 🏃♀️ 🏃
