Donald, to preface, I have lots of respect for you for making Fortnite’s story. It means a lot to me and so many others, but seeing this from you is incredibly disappointing & disheartening.

Generative AI, is not like past technological advancements at all. And I think the most ironic thing in this entire article is that it not even once discusses the environmental repercussions AI has on our planet. That is a major factor why so many people are pushing back against Generative AI, alongside the objectively unethical creative issues it poses on top of that.

Contributing to the destruction of the beautiful planet we live on and infringing on people’s lives to make room for these awful data centers to power AI will never be worth the cost.

This post from you also really caught me off guard because you’ve always talked about how stories/myths have been crucial to mankind and that we have an “ancient need” for them, but then you have the audacity to endorse Generative AI..?

For millennia, humans have told genuine stories from the soul using their creative minds that have passed on from generation to generation without the presence of AI.

AI cannot and will not ever be able to replicate that no matter what, because it is completely soulless. Humans crave authentic stories because they are an expression of the soul, something these machines don’t have. And I believe this statement from Wendigoon puts it perfectly:
