डब्ल्यूएमओ की नई रिपोर्ट बताती है कि जलवायु संकट अब सीधे हमारी सांसों पर हमला कर रहा है। 1990 के दशक के बाद से भारी धुएं वाली जंगल की आग तीन गुना बढ़ी हैं, जिनसे 2010–2018 के बीच हर साल लगभग 1 लाख अतिरिक्त मौतों का अनुमान है।

हर साल 14.3 करोड़ टन जहरीले कार्बनिक प्रदू��क हवा में घुल रहे हैं, जबकि पारंपरिक मॉडल जंगल की आग से जुड़ी मौतों को 93 फीसदी तक कम आंक सकते हैं।

बढ़ती गर्मी और लू जमीन के पास ओजोन प्रदूषण बढ़ा रही हैं, जिससे समय से पहले मौतों का खतरा और गहरा रहा है। भारत में 2025 में पीएम2.5 स्तर लंबे समय के औसत से ऊपर रहा, जो बायोमास जलाने और अन्य स्रोतों ��े जुड़ा है। रिपोर्ट का स्पष्ट संदेश है कि साफ हवा और स्थिर जलवायु की लड़ाई अब एक साथ और समन्वित नीतियों के जरिए ही लड़ी जा सकती है।
