1. दलजीत सिंह की मौत (ड्रग ओवरडोज़ बनाम हत्या)
पंजाब के मानसा ज़िले में दलजीत सिंह नामक युवक का शव मिला था। उनके परिवार और स्थानीय लोगों का आरोप है कि उनकी मौत ड्रग ओवरडोज़ से हुई है और नशा करने के बाद साथियों ने उनका शव सड़क किनारे फेंक दिया। हालांकि, मानसा के एसएसपी वैभव चौधरी ने ओवरडोज़ के दावे का खंडन करते हुए इसे 'प्रथम दृष्टया हत्या का मामला' बताया है। पुलिस के अनुसार, चार लोग दलजीत को अपने साथ ले गए थे और बाद में उसका शव एक गाड़ी से बाहर फेंक दिया। इस मामले में पुलिस ने गिरफ़्तारियां की हैं और मौत का सटीक कारण विसरा रिपोर्ट से तय होगा।
2. पुलिस द्वारा शव को कब्ज़े में लेना
दलजीत का परिवार और स्थानीय लोग विरोध-प्रदर्शन करते हुए शव को मुख्य सड़क से होते हुए 'झोटा प्रदर्शन स्थल' की ओर ले जाने की कोशिश कर रहे थे। पुलिस ने कानून-व्यवस्था बिगड़ने का हवाला देते हुए भारी बैरिकेडिंग की और भीड़ को आगे बढ़ने से रोक दिया। दोनों पक्षों में झड़प (पुलिस पर तलवारों से हमले के आरोप सहित) के बाद पुलिस ने भीड़ को तितर-बितर किया और शव को अपने कब्ज़े में लेकर एम्स (AIIMS) भटिंडा की मोर्चरी में रखवा दिया।
3. ड्रग्स के खिलाफ लड़ने वाले एक्टिविस्ट की हत्या
मैसेज में जिस 'एक्टिविस्ट' का ज़िक्र है, वह परविंदर सिंह झोटा हैं। 13 अक्टूबर 2026 को मानसा में एक मेडिकल स्टोर के मालिक (अश्विनी कुमार) ने परविंदर झोटा की सरेआम गोली मारकर हत्या कर दी थी,। झोटा उस केमिस्ट पर अवैध रूप से नशीली दवाएं (ड्रग्स) बेचने का आरोप लगाते हुए उसका विरोध करने गए थे। इस हत्याकांड के बाद से इलाके में प्रशासन के खिलाफ भारी रोष है और लगातार प्रदर्शन चल रहे हैं,।
यह स्पष्ट है कि पंजाब के मानसा में अवैध नशे के खिलाफ माहौल बेहद तनावपूर्ण है। एक्टिविस्ट परविंदर झोटा की हत्या अवैध नशे का विरोध करने पर ही हुई थी,। दलजीत सिंह के ताज़ा मामले में परिवार इसे ड्रग्स का ही नतीजा मान रहा है, जबकि पुलिस इसे हत्या मानकर जांच कर रही है। इसी उग्र होते विरोध को रोकने के लिए पुलिस ने दलजीत का शव प्रदर्शनकारियों से अपने कब्ज़े में लिया था।
