Bygone Britain when PBX Telephone Switchboards were commonplace. Most businesses employed at least one operator to answer phone calls quickly and courteously. A time when businesses truly respected and valued their customers, long before automated telephone systems came into use.
1978. William Belson's academic study 'Television violence and the adolescent boy' was published in the UK and its findings shocked both IBA & BBC. Robert Banks Stewart was asked by the BBC to create a new drama series which offered humour and quirkiness without the violence. 1/
