At @Concurrences, #ECJ judge #wathelet calls AG Rantos' Conclusions in #SuperLeague Case C-331/21 'misty', points i.a. at acceptance of UEFA's dual role, sanctions/threats, prior authorisation, and mandatory arbitration. Well the Bench is still out on that one! #competition#foot
@JacobsBen I'd actually argue that this recommendation is actually in favour of the Superleague clubs. I doubt that any club involved with the ESL would want to also compete in UEFA competitions. He's basically given the ESL a green light.
LaLiga are “confident” CJEU judges will agree with today’s non-binding recommendation when they rule in March 2023. Javier Tebas says:“LaLiga, along with other European leagues, will continue to fight… for legal protection for the current European football model.”
Also, #antitrust is the perfect tool to address inflation by (i) fighting collusion to take advantage of price-hikes; and (ii) improving market access, inflation being a supply-side issue
.@SebastianEPayne tells #r4 that Penny Mordaunt shows ‘competence & authority’, & describes her 2016 claim that Turkey was about to join the EU - which might well have caused #Brexit - merely as ‘controversial’.
It was in fact a gross lie, as was the claim that UK had no veto.
