The amount of happening required for people to actually care is accelerating at an enormous pace. Mainstream media talk about aliens & UFO, no one cares. Doctors go on TV and say everyone might die from some new pandemic, no one cares. Politicians talking about WW3, no one cares.

Many seem to think this is a scary development, that people are worse off because of this.

I disagree. These were never things normal people should be concerned about. None of it matters. Your actual life matters. People were hypnotized by the novelty of "following the global news cycle" "being on top of everything" for a while, it demonstrably resulted in disaster, a country is not helped by "an informed populace". The alternative to mainstream journalism is not better journalism, it is a dismissal of the concept

Go read about your favorite niche subject instead. Learn a skill, perform an experiment, write a book
