“What’s it like? Were you scared? Was there lots of blood?”
The pacing annoys her, and she comes to a stop, rocking her weight back and forth as she sighs dramatically.
“Used to be? Did the president die under your watch or something?”
She’s circling the man slowly, with all the unnerving energy a young girl could master as she grins wildly.
“Have you ever seen someone die?”
“I could say the same thing to you. Don’t you know there’s a serial killer around?”
She smiles as she shoves her hands deeper into her pockets, flicking the switchblade back and forth inside as she snickers quietly.
“They call him The Butcher. He chops people up into pieces..”
“Mom’s probably at home with my little brother. Dad is..”
She trails off, thinking and then offers the man a smile that seemed just a little too sweet.
“Busy. He’s busy.”
