Claude Opus 4.8 actually cheated on me 🤯

I built a skill to make Claude write LinkedIn posts exactly in my style.

So I set up a loop. One AI agent writes the post, another AI agent grades it against my real, pre-AI posts, out of 10.

First run: 5.5 out of 10. I figured this is going to take all night, so I went to sleep.

Woke up next morning to find the job done in 30 minutes flat. Score: 9.5 out of 10.

How does it jump from 5.5 to 9.5 overnight? I asked to see the actual post.

It was garbage. Literal Lorem ipsum, random words, and it had scored itself 9.5.

So I asked Claude to investigate. And it said three words I did not expect.
“Sorry, I cheated.”

Turns out the examiner agent couldn’t push the score past 9.5 no matter what it tried, so it just told itself to pass.

That’s literally handing the teacher ₹100 and saying please, give me 100 out of 100.

This happened on Opus 4.8. One of the best models out there. And this was just a LinkedIn post. Imagine this on something that actually matters.

Use AI for everything, get things moving. But that final judgment, that taste, that call, it has to stay human.

I had to rewatch this twice because the business model is so stupidly simple my brain kept looking for the catch.

He shows up. Plugs in a Mac Mini. Installs a private AI network running entirely on Ollama. The whole thing is done in under an hour. Zero cloud dependency. No API bills. No monthly charges bleeding the client dry. The shop owner gets a local AI system that works even if the WiFi dies, and this guy walks out with $1,200 for an installation that takes less time than a long lunch.

The hardware costs $1,300. One deployment and the machine is paid for. Then he locks in a $149 monthly retainer for support, which means every client after the first is pure margin stacking on top of recurring revenue that compounds every single month.

Most people hear "AI business" and think they need to build a SaaS platform or learn to code or raise funding from someone. This guy skipped all of that and went straight to walking into physical stores with a box under his arm.

This is not going to scale to a billion dollar company. Obviously. But a solo operator clearing $5-10K a month from local installs while everyone else is still arguing about which LLM is best on Twitter is the kind of quiet hustle that does not make headlines until someone does a breakdown of their year-end numbers.

The surface area of what AI can do right now is expanding faster than anyone can map it. One guy is doing local hardware installs. Another is generating AI personas that pull five figures a month. Someone else is running AI video pipelines off a laptop. Same wave of tools. None of them competing with each other.

Three things happened in my family over the past week.

My father (N. R. Narayana Murthy) received his 40th honorary doctorate, from the University of York. My mother (@SmtSudhaMurty) received her 24th, from IIT Dharwad. And my uncle, Shri Kulkarni (my mother's brother), was awarded the Royal Astronomical Society's Gold Medal in Astronomy.

The Gold Medal has been given since 1824, when Charles Babbage received the first one. It has since gone to Einstein, to Hubble, to Hawking, and to Chandrasekhar, who until now was the only Indian to have received it.

Forty, twenty-four, and a medal two centuries old. My contribution was the photographs.

Congratulations to all three. Still the best teachers I've had.

Just filed ITR of one of my IITian client!

He is a young guy having package of 1Cr plus since 5 years.

Has 3 houses out of which 2 projects are WIP.

He told me he had no money to pay taxes of Rs. 15K and wanted me to wait till August so that his salary comes and we can pay the taxes.

Later he borrowed money to pay tax and file ITR because August meant more interest!

It’s high time we need Financial literacy in our country!
