The irony?
Her nomination was rejected on the basis of a 2014 Supreme Court judgment itself. 🤣

That 2014 ruling, Resurgence India v. Election Commission of India, held that candidates must fully disclose all required information in their nomination affidavit and cannot leave any column blank. The Court emphasized that voters have a right to complete information, making transparency in elections non-negotiable.

CM Siddharamiah has reportedly been asked to tell KC Venugopal within the next few days whether he is willing to take up a Rajya Sabha seat. The last date for filing nominations is June 8.

The Congress national leadership is also clear that it does not want Siddharamiah deciding who succeeds him as Chief Minister.

During a 35-minute one-on-one meeting with Rahul Gandhi, he was reportedly told that any decision now must be taken keeping both the 2028 Assembly election and the 2029 Lok Sabha election in mind. Rahul is understood to have told him that he remains the party’s biggest OBC face and would have a key role in the national campaign for 2029, while for the party to retain Karnataka in 2028, a transition is must.

The indication from Delhi is that D. K. Shivakumar will become Chief Minister, but he has been asked to keep his supporters in check for now.
