If BTS has a soul, Kim Namjoon wrote it. From the moment they debuted with 2 Cool 4 Skool, he was in the writing credits for 7 out of 9 songs. Fast forward to 2026’s Arirang and he’s still there on 13 out of 14 tracks. Thirteen years passed, members grew up, the world changed, but Namjoon never stopped writing.

There are albums that wouldn’t exist without him. Youth has 13 songs and his name is on all 13. Love Yourself: Tear has 11 songs and he wrote every one. Map of Seoul: Persona — 7 out of 7. And when BTS decided to tell their whole story on Proof, RM wrote 38 of the 48 tracks. That’s not just contribution. That’s authorship. Over 200 tracks of honesty about growing up, feeling lost, loving yourself, and finding your place.

That’s what makes him a leader. Anyone can stand in front, but Namjoon built the road they walk on. He writes about anxiety when he feels it himself. He studies, reads, translates, and explains so his members don’t have to carry the pressure alone. He speaks at the United Nations not because he’s the leader, but because he’s been writing speeches for BTS’ message long before that stage.
