This photograph was taken during a ceremonial inspection at Windsor Castle in 2003, when Prince Philip surprised Queen Elizabeth II by appearing in the uniform of the Grenadier Guards as part of the regiment’s anniversary celebrations. As the Queen walked past him during the event, she reportedly burst into laughter at the unexpected sight of her husband standing rigidly in full ceremonial dress, complete with the towering bearskin hat. The image quickly became one of the most beloved candid royal photographs because it revealed a rare moment of humor and warmth within a relationship usually seen through the lens of strict public formality.

By the time the photograph was taken, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip had already been married for more than 55 years, eventually reaching a historic 73-year marriage before Philip’s death in 2021. Royal biographers often noted that Philip was one of the few people capable of making the Queen genuinely laugh in public, and the photograph has endured because it captures that side of their relationship so naturally. Morning I was thinking of doing this tribute yesterday but the Worlds media was full of it. I could never equal a Royal tribute, but when you look at this life of Sir David he is bigger than a celebrity he is an icon and stands out being unique in his field of expertise. I loved the films with the Gorilla's and monkeys then again if there was ever relaxing stress free TV the planet series especially underwater. I would make his programmes essential viewing in schools for teenagers whose mind are filled with many other things. I don't think I have ever met Sir David an honour still to be achieved. So this weekend as a family get catch up on turn off the phones and relive some amazing programmes check out Meerkats Utd!! If by any chance Sir David or his team read this Happy 100th Sir David and Thanks for giving me a love for the Animal World via your TV programmes

Hedgehogs are solitary animals so are silent - they have no need to communicate so don't have a 'vocabulary'. Even when in pain or fear they usually suffer in silence. The only time you'll really hear them vocalise is this time of year - mating season.
And it's only the girls who talk.😁
The male approaches the female and circles her, trying to mount.
The female turns to face him, keeping her nether regions out of his reach, and makes a chuff-chuff sound, telling him she's not interested.
She'll keep this up for hours, sometimes days, until she whittles down which of her suitors is the strongest, has the most endurance and energy, is the fittest and healthiest and most determined.
She wants only the very best to be the father of her precious babies.
Only when he's proved himself to be worthy, does the female crouch down and lay her spines flat, and allow him to mate.
Inexperienced males often need to use their mouth to hold on and get into position, so this time of year you may see females with a small wound on their back. There can be more than one winner, and she'll allow other males who have made the grade to mate with her also.
So the resulting litter can be hoglets with several different fathers, producing a truly diverse and healthy gene pool.
This genetic diversity within a population allows it to adapt to changing environments and resist diseases. Just one of the reasons our humble little hedgehog has survived for over 15 million years!🥰
