I really, really love amateur art. It takes immense courage to put yourself out there like that. It’s very beautiful unto itself when someone finds it in themselves to do it knowing they may not be the best or even very good yet. It more than makes up for any technical points.
Descerebrate attitude among many a musical midwits whose knowledge only slightly exceeds average. Harmony as be-all and end-all lead to the most domesticated music of all, music so dull it plays in hotel lobbies for ignoramuses who couldn't care less about understanding it.
Like ASIF said 'complex music' has a niche, and it's a very good niche if you're into that. But you can't analyze a lot of genuinely brilliant music through those lenses for more than two minutes, it just becomes circular because it's so simple.
