BREAKING: The House has passed legislation to make Daylight Saving Time permanent nationwide, ending the twice-a-year clock changes by a 308-117 vote. Backed by President Trump, the bill now heads to the Senate. If approved and signed into law, Americans would no longer have to change their clocks.
After Dale died, it took my late father a long time to find his Guy again. His interest in Nascar was waning until KB came along. I got to experience an extra two decades worth of Nascar memories with him because of you.
He got to meet you in passing at Las Vegas as you made your way to the Nationwide starting grid.
He told you “Go kick some ass today!”
“Thanks, I always try.”
One quip to him meant the world.
See you on the other side. Godspeed.
We are saddened and heartbroken to share the news of the passing of Kyle Busch, a two-time Cup champion and one of our sport's greatest and fiercest drivers. He was 41 years old.
We extend our deepest condolences to the Busch family, Richard Childress Racing and the entire motorsports community.
@markallanbovair@ResilientDad At first I was a permanent daylight savings-er.
Others pointed out the health/circadian benefits of standard time.
Is the answer to roll clocks forward 30 minutes and be done with it?
Changing the clocks is a compromise in a vast nation covering a wide latitude and longitude. If we didn't change the clocks in the fall, certain swaths of the country would not see daylight until nearly 9am during the depths of winter. Conversely, if we did not change the clocks back in the spring, certain parts of the country would needlessly see daylight starting at about 4am, meaning the daylight would go to waste given that the vast majority of people are sleeping then. Adjusting the clocks shifts the daylight so it is more likely to cover the times when most people are awake.
This is what the winter sunrise would look like without shifting the clocks in the fall:
Thank you @dennyhamlin for making me feel something that’s been missing since Gordon retired.
Wish Actions Detrimental had come out back then but alas, it’s been a good couple years.
If you have to lose one, that’s a damn fine way to do it. Made second place blow out just trying to keep up.

I agree, faster refuel flow doesn’t eliminate the problem but it also doesn’t just put us back-to-square-one. If putting in the extra fuel only cost .25 sec instead of .5 sec then spending less time in the pits would definitely be “less of a consideration”.
Thinking out loud, I know it’s a ridiculous idea but the pack going slower than a single car is already ridiculous: on superspeedways only have a second fuel spout to allow two gas can to refueling at the same time. Need an extra 2 gallons during a late splash and go because you raced hard at the front? Now refuel is twice as fast and it is indeed far less of a consideration. Others save a lot less time in the pits because putting in the extra gas isn’t as deleterious (I just like that word).
Other other idea: less drag and more taper spacer-ing, more like the package when Danica won the pole. I forget where I saw the comparison last week but the delta between her pole speed and race speed was only a few mph. Now that difference is over 15 mph. Drivers talked about hitting a wall of air when they pulled out to pass. Make it so pulling out to pass is less penalized by drag and they’ll be more confident that they can race their way back to the front, and therefore less concerned about maintaining track position at all cost. 3/3 @MattWeaverRA@jeff_gluck
Other idea: more tire wear, and I think it should be accomplished by smaller and narrower wheels, which would help The Short Track issue too, instead of just fiddling with the tire compound (less surface area touching the track means more wear even on a harder tire). More tire changes means more time is available to refuel which means saving is less important.
Omurice is a fluffy egg omelette served upside down on a bed of fried race and topped with demi-glace.
It's known as the world's hardest-to-prepare omelette.
Here's chef Motoyoshi Yukimura cooking it.
