Another #DayZ ammunition type based on real-life ammunition is the 5.45x39mm. In real-life, it was developed by the Soviet Union in 1974 specifically for the AK-74. The design of box in #DayZ with the name FOX seems to be a parody for the Russian ammunition brand WOLF.

#DayZ in-game shotgun ammo was inspired by American ammunition brand Hornady, which uses 12 gauge shells with diameter 18.53mm and lenght 6.985mm. In-game ammo consists of 8 pellets, matching the count of pellets in real-life inspired shells.

#DayZ in-game ammunition 7.62x39 was inspired by Russian manufacturer CJSC Barnaul Cartridge Plant. The BEAR series consists of three product lines Golden, Silver and Brown(non-corrosive). In #DayZ, a new special series called "Calm Bear" was used.
