Independent Socialist & Trade Unionist standing for the Strawberry Ward by-election - Cheshire West and Chester Council - Promoted by Ray McHale - 12, CH66 2XT
Thank you to everyone for your help this weekend - to Anne, Vicki, Kenny, Mark, Kevin, Nigel and Steve who joined us for canvassing and to Ian and Jeanette who set up another stall with me at Hope Farm shops on Saturday morning #election#council#ellesmereport#CWAC
I was recently asked for my stance on Chester's "City of Sanctuary" status:
“…this is about saying those who come here, men women and children, should be given support and a welcoming fitting of the civilised people we are."
#election#cwac#ellesmereport#theatreporto
So I fully support the City of Sanctuary, and Theatre Porto's - Theatre of Sanctuary. Of those I have talked to at Trinity Church - many Iranian Christians who have fled persecution - you couldn't find nicer people wanting to fit in with our society. I don't want to be part 5/6
This is a video from June 2023 where I spoke at Scrutiny Committee about what is called the "Out-turn Budget", where the Council reports on what it actually spent in the previous year (2022-23) - compared to what it had budgeted on paper #election#cwac

So with all the 2nd leaflets delivered in a day, I have just been counting up all the kind and committed people helping with the campaign. Thanks to Isobel, Roz & Jack, Josh, Craig, Steve D, Steve A, Helen, Pete, Nigel, Anne, Vicki, Andy, Kevin, Jimmy, Gill, Elizabeth 1/3
Jim H, Jamie, Dave, Felicity, Trish, Ian, Fred, Sue, Pat - and the office manager Jess. (Jeanette, I know you would be here if you could) Thanks to those additional people who have contributed financially.
Another 9 days to go. Canvassing every afternoon now 4pm or 5.30pm. 2/3
To show how far I go back with politics in our town, Ian Prowse, played in Chester on 6th Sept. Here's a ticket from one of his first - a benefit we in the local Labour Party Young Socialists organised for Striking Miners in 1985. Our politics remain very close #ianprowse
