The latest developments in the Middle East constitute a worrying escalation, and we must act collectively to encourage all parties to opt for dialogue and negotiation rather than the use of force.
In my intervention during today’s #EU-@GCC forum in Luxembourg, I reiterated importance of dialogue and effective negotiations in all international fora.
As I highlighted during the @UN #SecurityCouncil debate presided by #Malta last week, we must refocus our attention on Gaza and work towards a permanent ceasefire, release of all hostages and adequate humanitarian aid.
Malta also acknowledges the recent positive announcements by Israel concerning the gradual reopening of crossings in north Gaza. This effort must be reinforced to ensure that humanitarian aid reaches communities that desperately need it.

11 key takeaways from my statement to the @UN#SecurityCouncil, during today’s #MiddleEast debate:
1. Rather than seeking to blame this or that party, we must work together to avoid a full-scale conflict in this region.
2. Steps to promote immediate de-escalation are of paramount importance.
3. The disregard of the #UNSC's repeated demands for a ceasefire is deeply worrying
4. Malta continues to condemn all acts of violence and aggression in the region.
5. We condemn the killing and abduction of more than 1,450 Israelis on 7 October and the killing of 33,200 Palestinians in the ensuing reprisal.
6. Denial of humanitarian assistance and use of starvation as a weapon of war are grave international law violations.
7. The safety of UN personnel, humanitarians and journalists must be guaranteed by all parties, and the international community must support all efforts in this direction.
8. We welcome ongoing efforts to revitalise the Palestinian Authority.
9. A just resolution of this conflict must embrace the Palestinians’ aspirations for UN membership and Statehood.
10. Such solution must also ensure the safety security of Israelis, without the threat of terrorism.
11. Malta remains committed to support a two-state Solution on pre-1967 borders, with Jerusalem as the future Capital of two states, living side-by-side in peace.

Malta shall remain an active voice in favour of peace and tolerance.
Stressed this during my intervention at the Building Tolerance and Peace Despite Current Challenges: MENA and EUROPE conference at the Parliament of Malta, organised by @gctpnews1 .
Now, more than ever, we require a shared vision to transform our common obstacles into opportunities for the benefit of our people and cultivate the seeds of peace and foster an environment of tolerance, understanding, and coexistence.
Extensive discussions with HH @ABZayed on 🇲🇹🇦🇪 current tenures on #UNSC. Visit to UAE served to consolidate our almost 50 year long bilateral relations by the signing of MOUs in Maritime, Youth, Culture & Sports. Agreed about the strengthening of relations in the coming years.
Good to meet with 🇬🇧 Europe Minister @LeoDochertyUK. Discussed follow ups to the signing of the Bilateral Cooperation Framework during @JamesCleverly recent visit to Malta and welcomed the 🇬🇧🇪🇺 understanding on the windsor framework.
During an ESS of #UNGA reiterated @MaltaGov support for a peaceful resolution to Russia war of aggression against Ukraine in accordance w/ international law & the principles of the @UN Charter. Halting this war against UA at once is the only way forward. There’s no other way.
