I just want people to understand ONE thing about this whole Ed Sheeran and Macklemore situation:

HE WAS WARNED.

Macklemore did the Palestine bit on the first night in New Jersey. After that, he promised NFL owners he wouldn’t do it again. Then he did it ANYWAY on the second night.

And this wasn’t even his tour. He knew other people’s jobs, contracts, reputations, and livelihoods were tied to this. He knew people behind the scenes would have to deal with the fallout, and he STILL chose to do it. That was selfish.

So if you want to blame Ed because that’s easier than blaming the person who was warned and STILL made the decision to do it again, go ahead. But at some point, people need to take accountability for their own actions instead of shifting the blame onto everyone else.

And before anyone wants to act like Bob Kraft somehow overstepped, let’s remember one very important fact:

HE OWNS GILLETTE STADIUM.

He has every right to decide what happens inside a venue he owns.

Think about it this way: if someone comes into YOUR house as a guest, you give them the rules and they agree to respect them. If they knowingly ignore those rules, you have every right to tell them to leave. You don’t owe someone continued access to your home after they deliberately disregard your boundaries.

The same principle applies here.

At the end of the day, this is a business. Macklemore may be the internet hero right now, but internet applause doesn’t change the fact that he was warned, gave his word, and then broke it.

That makes him a liability.

People aren’t going to trust someone when they know he’s willing to deliberately make decisions that could put other people’s jobs and business relationships on the line.

You don’t get to break your word, ignore the rules, drag other people into the fallout, and then blame everyone else when there are consequences.

Life just doesn’t work like that. Sorry. 💁🏻‍♀️

A “100-year storm” (sometimes referred to as a “1-in-100-year”) means that an extreme weather event (let’s say, a flash flood) of certain magnitude has a 1% chance of occurring at ONE specific location in any given calendar year.

Assuming stationarity, if you have, say, 10,000 towns, it can be expected that 100 of them will experience a “100-year-flood” every single year.

By definition, “100-year storms” are the norm and always have been.

As for glaciers, well, they began receding long before mankind began pumping CO₂ into the atmosphere. So, even if you are going to argue that all recent melting is a result of anthropogenic forcing, you can’t explain what caused melting to start.

Glaciers / ice sheets are also not a permanent fixture of our environment. At one point, present-day New York City and Chicago were buried beneath a mile-thick ice sheet.

Would that be preferable?

I would tell you to stick to politics, but you aren’t particularly good at that either because the U.S. is running a $40 trillion-dollar deficit, which you and your colleagues fail to problem solve.

When I watch a movie, I’m trying to escape reality, not to be lectured by an actor who believes fame and money makes them morally superior.

When I pay to attend a concert, I’m there for the music. If you stop the show to scream political slogans and demand that the audience repeat them, fuck right off. You’ve lost me as a fan.

Celebrities seriously need to check their egos. You are not as important, influential or universally adored as you think you are.
