I was in the house for this one. Braves were on the wrong end of it, but incredible game. Jansen was in the middle of a rough patch, and I was hoping they let Minter go 2 innings.
One of the craziest Mariners regular season games ever en route to the first playoff appearance in two decades.
It was won by Eugenio Suarez. Excited to have Geno back home tonight. https://t.co/qliRkvMJ7z
@TheRestHistory What do you consider to be the hinge moments from ancient to medieval and medieval to modern? Gabriele & Perry in their great book Bright Ages, use the 410 sack of Rome and the 1314 publication of Dante's Inferno. Is that right or would you identify different turning points?
Spencer Strider: update #MLB
Right elbow injury
Normally, when we think of injuries to pitchers elbows, we either have an injury to the UCL ligament that is sprained, partially torn, or fully torn.
Sometimes there can be injuries to the muscles of the forearm, which can also contribute to injuries to the ligament.
Strider already had UCL reconstruction (Tommy John surgery) 2019 and he was in college. So his anatomy is already changed.
Now we hear about a new issue with his elbow, and the possibilities are a new sprain, a new partial tear or a full thickness tear. Depending on the issue would depend on the different treatment options. Traditionally with a previously reconstructed UCL, he would not be eligible for an internal brace procedure.
However, this is a unique situation that Strider found himself in. Thankfully, he did not tear his original UCL graft from his 2019 surgery, but instead suffered a bone fragment that was affecting the integrity of the graft, preventing him from pitching without pain.
After being a valuated by multiple positions, Strider and his medical team made the decision to undergo a unique procedure and provide a structural support at the site of the bone fragment with an internal brace, but reconstructing the entire UCL again, because it was not necessary.
Very unique situation, and as a result, he should be back to 100% pre-injury with no long-term ramifications come spring training 2025 .

A simple recipe for finding opportunities:
1. Be pleasant
2. Ask questions
3. Engage daily
It's hard for a warm and pleasant person who is asking a lot of questions and engaging in their industry daily to not come across interesting opportunities.
Jesse Plemons was cast in Alex Garland’s ‘CIVIL WAR’ just days before they filmed the sequence.
It came after the original actor dropped out a week before filming began so Kirsten Dunst suggested asking Jesse.
