The amount of disillusionment Nigerian men are experiencing lately falsifies the general notion that women are delusional. If they are in any other sphere of life, in relationships, women are not delusional; the men are.
The “ugly” woman (looks being a status qualifier for women) knows and accepts that dating a fine man will likely get her heart broken. So she avoids handsome guys, or tells the handsome man courting her things like, “I no get nyash o. I know you will cheat on me. Chidi, I don’t have the strength to fight other women o.”
This woman knows and accepts that she is beneath the class of women who can keep a fine man. So she states her limitations early enough. And in cases where she gives in to the request of the handsome man and gets into a relationship with him, she never fails to show him that she knows a finer woman can take him away from her. So she questions him every time: Who is that on the phone? Why was the cashier looking at you like that? This Jennifer colleague of yours - how long have you known her? This woman never loses that “something can go wrong” instinct. In two, three, or ten years, she is still asking questions.
A man, on the other hand, a Nigerian man, precisely, fairly financially stable and ready for marriage, sees a woman, courts her, and sells her the dream of financial security. The woman agrees to date him, of course. He signals marital interest, proposes, and marries her, all with the unwavering conviction that the woman loves him. So he completely loses the “something could go wrong” instinct.
This man forgets completely that he is a Nigerian living in Nigeria. He forgets that Nigeria, with its economic constraints - ones men rarely escape - entraps women even more, given the biological differences in survival dynamics.
So he marries a woman without considering that she might be marrying him as an escape from her financial reality, without questioning what her attraction is if not security, and without ever considering possible scenarios like him going broke, his woman attaining financial power when he takes her abroad, or a richer man taking an interest in her. He never prepares for realities as possible as these.
Therefore, unlike the “ugly” woman who stays skeptical of her handsome man, scanning and alarming all possible threats, this man gives his all for love. No caution, no reflection, no plans for any shocking event. He takes his wife abroad, sends money to his wife abroad, and never sees the risk in doing that.
Because this man is foolish enough not to realize that his union with a Nigerian woman, the affection of a Nigerian woman, and the loyalty of a Nigerian woman are birthed in, and sustained by, the peculiarity of Nigeria: hardship. He does not see that if you remove hardship, you remove the glue. That his woman can leave him for a higher bidder or if she attains a certain financial level. So he gets that reality shock then get on podcast to cry on our screens, disgustingly so.
But, Goddd... I'm tired of saying these things every eke market day. As you were

This is Owolabi Akinlolu, a 56-year-old Superintendent of Police (SUPOL). Despite the grave crime he has committed the corrupt Nigerian police will never reveal his face. Spread it everywhere
Good morning Nigerians… I need help, my daughter needs help!
My 3years and 6months old child is deaf!!!
I didn’t notice in time because she walked late (a year and 7 months)
So I just assumed her growth is slow and she would talk with time.
