this shit was NOT overnight, not even remotely close. i still remember exactly what it was like to boot up my stream and maybe nobody was going to show up. i’ve done nothing but bust my ass to get to where i am today and it’s felt incredibly rewarding to recognize how gradual the growth has been.
i don’t follow trends, i don’t pick fights for clicks, i don’t pretend to be friends with people i don’t actually fuck with, i just do whatever feels fun and that’s it.
i have and will continue to keep doing what i do best, which is being myself and doing my absolute best to create a space where people have an opportunity to create genuine friendships and memories through something i have forever been passionate about.
thank you for watching, thank you for listening, and to 2019 mike:
i’m so proud of you man.
still only getting started ❤️
this box is absolutely priceless to me.
as a child who grew up in a compulsive hoarding environment, this was my beacon of light a few years ago. we had a quickly approaching inspection of our house which meant renting a dumpster and throwing out and organizing as much as possible within a week’s time. i think there’s a picture of me standing in it somewhere on my instagram, since anything to make it even a little fun was the only way to stay sane.
bags and bags and bags of trash into it, you begin to start rummaging a little more carefully because you truly don’t know what you might find amongst the trash, like a little scavenger hunt. and then, there it was… the box of my first ever pokemon game.
my godmother, who we have since lost to cancer years ago, used to work at toys r us in our hometown about 45 minutes away from us. looking back, we never really had to drive THAT far to get a video game. but as i’ve gotten older, i think i understand that maybe it was just any reason to go out and visit her.
that day, i walked out of her store with a pikachu edition gameboy color and pokemon silver, which in turn happened to actually change my life forever.
i love pokemon so much and it has gotten me through so much too. growing up in the environment i did was very isolating and confusing, so i truly don’t remember much at all from when i was a kid and it still weighs pretty heavy on me sometimes. that being said, i’m happy to have reminders of genuine benchmarks in the form of tangible nostalgia.
if you’re bored, peep those rubbermaid containers that are collecting dust or even the floor near them… you might have a story too ❤️
