Then she sits back and begins giggling and wiggling her toes in delight.

“Did I win?!” She asks excitedly, knowing she did.

The black dragon becomes very still… uncomprehending.

As she stares at the chess pieces suddenly her overgrown, uneven bangs lift dramatically, her eyes widen in surprise and her full lips form an open-mouthed “O”.

Her hazel eyes are beaming and gleaming as her chubby fingers grasp, move and then release a

Its razor-sharp claws, each claw three times the size of a grown man’s hand, are methodically scratching and scoring into the dull maroon-coloured marble floor, excavating rivers of red dust.

The spike on the end of its tail begins lashing and slashing, cutting through the air

Tendrils are born and begin weaving and cleaving their way from its snout, at first dense and then slowly dissipating.

The spikes down it’s back and at the edges of its bat-like wings flex, straining to strike but held back by an invisible force.

Deceit emanates from its pores.
