Interpreters being neutral, unbiased, or impartial is false. We simply manage those thoughts and feelings on a continuum. Anyone who tells you otherwise is lying.

The mother/OG caregiver is often at the center of the child's life, so their commitment is often reflected in the rest of the family. Deaf children lacking access to language, communication and connection with family and caregivers are deprived of humanity & become an enigma.

@HowdyltsHannah In a capitalistic country, I suppose it is difficult to build a career in an industry like sign language interpreting. There is no career ladder and the more money the interpreter makes, the bigger the Deaf person is perceived as a burden.

RID chapters should turn into Union chapters and elected officers should be setting local interpreter rates and negotiating them with the agencies. Rates wild and all over the place, out of control, meanwhile, RID chapters wandering aimlessly. Hit 2 birds with one stone
