Hi All! Please support #MayorMatt 's focused budget recommendation by attending today's Town Hall Meeting or tomorrow's City Council meeting. Thank YOU, Ray

A Lady asked an old street vendor: "How much do you sell your eggs for?" The old man replied "0.50¢ an egg, madam.” The Lady responde, “I'll take 6 eggs for $2.00 or I'm leaving.” The old salesman replied, “Buy them at the price you want, Madam. This is a good start for me because I haven't sold a single egg today and I need this to live.”
She bought her eggs at a bargain price and left with the feeling that she had won. She got into her fancy car and went to a fancy restaurant with her friend. She and her friend ordered what they wanted. They ate a little and left a lot of what they had asked for. So they paid the bill, which was $150. The ladies gave $200 and told the fancy restaurant owner to keep the change as a tip.
This story might seem quite normal to the owner of the fancy restaurant, but very unfair to the egg seller. The question it raises is;
Why do we always need to show that we have power when we buy from the needy?
And why are we generous to those who don't even need our generosity?
We once read somewhere that a father used to buy goods from poor people at a high price, even though he didn't need the things. Sometimes he paid more for them. His children were amazed. One day they asked him "why are you doing this dad?" The father replied: "It's charity wrapped in dignity.”
I know that most of you will not share this message, but if you are one of the people who have taken the time to read this far...
Then this message of attempted "humanisation" will have gone one step further in the right direction.
@IvankaTrump Thank you for this thoughtful, well articulated perspective.
There is also the toll on the civilian Palestinians and Lebanese to mourn.
I pray the Israelis, Palestinian law abiding populace and Lebanese civilans & lawful leaders find a way peaceful way forward.
One year ago today, the world witnessed a heart-wrenching tragedy on October 7th, as innocent lives were senselessly taken in Israel. The pain of that day reverberated across the globe.
A few months later, I visited Israel to bear witness to the unimaginable destruction and suffering, and what I saw will remain forever etched in my heart. Walking through the aftermath, hearing the stories of those who lost everything—the grief, the devastation—was unforgettable.
But amid the heartbreak, I also witnessed the unshakable resilience of the Israeli people. Their strength, their determination to rebuild, and their unwavering hope for a better future moved me deeply.
On this solemn anniversary, my thoughts and prayers are with the families who lost their loved ones, the survivors who carry the scars of that horrific day, and the innocent hostages who remain in captivity. We cannot forget them, and we must demand their safe return. May we all stand united against hatred and violence, and may peace one day prevail.

Here’s the full-length performance of The Beatles’ “Here Comes the Sun” (with a bit of “Waters of March” mixed in).
It’s the first single from ON BANJO now streaming everywhere: https://t.co/yZqfzkdlWh

Join us for our next "Snack with Matt" town hall at Nam Giao Vietnamese restaurant in District 8 on Thursday, March 23, at noon. We will sit down with Quynh to talk about her story as a business owner, followed by the opportunity for neighbors to ask questions on local issues that matter the most to them! RSVP at: https://t.co/G86p54TzQo
Love this. Watch it. Dre is a lot more like homeless people I've met than the images many have in their minds about homeless people. Go #MayorMatt !

Meet Dre, a San Jose neighbor experiencing homelessness who was evacuated from the creek and entered a San José Evacuee Transitions Facilities at an Emergency Interim Housing (EIH) Community. When he arrived, he was placed in a tent and started working with a case manager and receiving wrap-around services; he has access to a washer and dryer, a kitchen, a bathroom, internet access, and a safe place to sleep. We discussed some of the challenges of homelessness, his experiences, his new job at the VTA Railyard, and his goals for the future.
It’s time we treated homelessness as the humanitarian crisis it is, and scaled up basic, cost-effective, and safe places for homeless residents to live as an alternative to our streets and creeks.
@MattMahanSJ@MattMahanSJ great job. Dre seems like many I have met on the street and enjoy. Look forward to connecting with more like Dre, B, T-Bone as we work for a better situation. It would be great for you to share more 2-minute interviews like this with other unsheltered homeless.
@elonmusk Elon, You are ridiculous. Ridiculous funny. Of all the Twitter accounts I follow, yours is my favorite. By far. Good luck with Twitter. Don't forget us Tesla owners ; ^ )
@POTUS So are you saying two wrongs make a right? That's what it sounds like.
It's like a citizen increasing a credit line when they can't afford the debt they already incurred.
Irresponsible and dangerous behavior.
Please make the tough decisions to reduce our national debt.
