Another group of 148 Somali returnees arrived safely from Yemen under the #ASR programme. Welcomed by #UNHCR, @NCRIsom & @MOFASomalia, the families received support to rebuild their lives, marking continued efforts to ensure safe, voluntary & dignified returns.

This 4th of July, I’m proud to celebrate as an American and a humanitarian. 🇺🇸

From refugee camps in Pakistan and Sudan to communities impacted by conflict, generalized violence, and persecution in Somalia, Thailand and the Caribbean, I’ve seen firsthand how U.S. support, through the UN and the broader humanitarian system, helps protect lives and restore dignity. That generosity reflects the values of everyday Americans: compassion, fairness, and a deep commitment to helping those in need. 🤝🌍

While the nature of U.S. engagement in global humanitarian efforts may shift, the heart of the American people remains steady. Most still believe in peace, in justice, and in standing with those forced to flee. 🕊️

Today at my usual café in San Antonio (@COSAGOV), I met a worker who recently arrived as a refugee from Sudan. When I told him I worked for UNHCR/@Refugees and was previously in Sudan, he greeted me with a warm smile recognizing our work.

Over 12 million Sudanese are now displaced by conflict and in urgent need of protection and durable solutions. As we approach #WorldRefugeeDay, let’s remember the importance of standing in solidarity with refugees everywhere. Our work, and our support, matters. #WithRefugees
