The Safavids instituted the public cursing of the three caliphs. The Ottomans demanded that it be stopped during the Treaty of Amasya, and the Uzbeks also asked the Safavids to stop cursing the three caliphs.

Imposing Shiasm as State religion.
The Safavids tried to impose Twelver Shiasm as the official religion of their state but it did not help them gain support from the people because Shias were in the minority.
