@langdalematt@RedWallPleb@garyseconomics If you personally borrow against the trust, the trust still pays it's annual tax..
You also then have to earn income to repay the loan, aswell as have to pay interest..
@BorisJohnson There are plenty of ponzis in crypto, so your intuition is right. But not all crypto is the same. Bitcoin isn't a ponzi, it doesn't meet the tests.
If you're interested in ponzi schemes though, take a look at how the UK state pension scheme works.
@UKLabour Raising the NLW doesn't put money in peoples pockets. It puts money into HMRC's, but not the peoples. It causes inflation as everyday businesses have to increase prices. It increases effective tax rates. NLW should be used to stop exploitation, not as a political or economic tool
@NeilDotObrien This basically does nothing to their government. 28/29 is end of their term. This just makes her sound good over nothing. It's still frozen, increasing NMW will then "sound good" but generate more tax and leave more people paying an even higher effective tax rate.
@LORDLJS@unusual_whales Yeah, even if they don't reduce the threshold, it'll get inflated away anyway. Places have been using the 10k threshold for decades. 10k today probably buys you less than half of what it did 20 years ago.
@KILLTHEICON@SBarrettBar He never said it trickles down. He said it's evidence of a working system (i.e. businesses actually generating enough cash to make millionaires/billionaires)
@Eyeswideopen69 Because those who haven't left already are happy to pay "their fair share" to live in this country. That doesn't mean they're willing to keep paying more and more and more.
@Liv_Boeree Why the fuck did he not speak up like this when he was in power? This is very clearly and obviously the correct approach and thought process. Just highlights the bullshit people do/say to get in/stay in power. He'd have gotten alot more respect from the public by speaking up
@BladeoftheS Retarded, all you do is speed up their exits and then stifle any startups/innovations/growth in the future. People earlier on in their careers will just leave earlier, as well as set up companies overseas rather than in the UK.
@implausibleblog Jesus christ. How are people not realising that these assessments are not "traumatic" or "difficult" for those cheating and gaming the system. These people just make up an entire narrative, or embellish a very mild narrative. It takes a couple hours and a few phone calls ffs.
@implausibleblog Y'know, like helping you afford to buy equipment if you've had your legs blown off or got MS.
Theres a place for it for mental health too, but how many on PIP for mental health are actually using that money to help them have independence vs using that money to just not work?
@implausibleblog "Guarantee you no one is faking it, the assessment is traumatic"
Not really traumatic for someone whos faking it though is it?
PIP isn't supposed to be anything to do with "jobseeking" or inability to work. Its supposed to help your independence.
@Keir_Starmer Watching things like this just shows how real the delusion actually is. It's almost like you believe all this bullshit. Yes prev govs did a terrible job, but if you don't think you're doing just as bad / worse and genuinely believe you are fixing it, you are delusional.
@JohnElsey11@ZiaYusufUK Increasing the minimum wage isn't the way to make it fairer. And more than likely this will also be labours solution. (It'll also raise more tax revenue)
It's a terrible solution and has a ton of knock on effects to small businesses/employers & creates more inflation
@ZiaYusufUK Don't worry, their solution to this will be to increase the minimum wage...
And before anyone doesn't realise that that's a bad thing... it is.
