A start can be to keep planning time for planning. When teachers have to attend meetings, committees, or cover classes, then they have to plan at home.
Teachers should not have to work well beyond contracted hours (unpaid) just to get things done. Then we wonder why there is a 50% attrition every 5 years. This year will be off charts if we donβt change expectations. We need state and district leaders to step up for teachers.
Teacher retention: if you want to keep the best teachers, treat them like they are the best. Few teachers leave an environment where they feel valued, supported, appreciated, and treated like professionals.
