Why is tricuspid valve (TV) endocarditis more common in those who use intravenous drugs?

The portal of entry for most bacteria is the venous system. If quick access to the right-heart were enough, TV endocarditis would be more common in everyone.

There must be more to it...

@DrPJLillie Type 1 MIs typically occur due to rupture of already established atherosclerotic plaques, different mechanism for venous thrombosis. Could be that inflammatory response to flu more likely to destabilise plaques than response to COVID.
