Today, Rwanda Biomedical Centre met with @AfricaCDC and the @Uni_Rwanda's EAC Regional Centre of Excellence to discuss collaboration on a Humanitarian and Public Health Emergency Supply Chain Training Programme.
The initiative will strengthen #Africa’s capacity to manage emergency supply chains and ensure timely access to essential medicines, vaccines, diagnostics, and other life-saving commodities during public health crises.
Together, we are investing in the skills, partnerships, and systems needed to build a more resilient Africa.
Minister of State @YvanButera visited the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and Cardiac Care Unit @kfaisalhospital.
Over the past four years, the center has performed more than 1,100 cardiac surgeries, reflecting the country’s growing capacity in highly specialized care. Rwanda now has its first pediatric interventional cardiologist, pediatric cardiac intensivist, and pediatric cardiac anesthesiologist, trained in Israel through the partnership with @SaveChildsHeart while additional specialists continue advanced training in Rwanda and abroad in cardiac surgery, interventional cardiology, cardiac anesthesia, and cardiac critical care.
Today, more patients can access life-saving cardiac services closer to home, delivered by a growing cadre of highly skilled professionals.
GWEC 2026 concluded with inspiring Closing Remarks delivered by Prof. Darius Gishoma, Guest of Honor and Head of mental health division at Rwanda Biomedical Centre (@RBCRwanda ).
The ceremony reflected on two impactful days of learning, collaboration, research, and innovation dedicated to advancing wellness in healthcare and medical education.
As the conference comes to a close, the commitment to promoting wellbeing through leadership, advocacy, and action continues.

RBC is contributing to the 2026 #ScienceOfDefeatingMalaria Leadership Course, a flagship program developing the next generation of #malaria leaders across #Africa.
Following #Rwanda's successful hosting of the course in Kigali last year, as Faculty-in-Residence, DG @CMuvunyi led sessions for this year's cohort on malaria case management amid emerging resistance, genomic approaches to #malariaelimination, and protecting malaria gains during public health emergencies.
Together with academic partners from #Senegal, #Ghana, #Nigeria, Harvard University, and RBC, we are strengthening African leadership, science, and partnerships to advance a malaria-free future.
From a small hospital blood bank to a national lifeline, Rwanda’s blood supply system now operates through five regional centres serving hospitals nationwide, with coverage improving to about 99.7% thanks to increased donations and faster delivery systems.
