The hallmark of an open mind is not letting your ideas become your identity.
If you define yourself by your opinions, questioning them is a threat to your integrity.
If you see yourself as a curious person or a lifelong learner, changing your mind is a moment of growth.
Ever since Jimmy Carter, it has always driven me nuts when politicians can’t pronounce NUCLEAR.
Let’s add NVIDIA to the list of irritants.

DOJ: Ghislaine, we will issue you a full pardon and immunity on the following conditions:
- You must swallow this arsenic delivery system.
- And you must release in a very slow and measured way only the names and damning testimony we approve.
If you violate these terms,👋

We are in the age of nearly total mind control.
“My GDP chart shows free trade is working well because correlation is causation” is obviously nonsense, as everyone promoting this knows.
But to the extent you believe it, the chart you’d want is one looking at trend, not absolute level, and then you’d have no point at all.
Incredible clip from 1996. Nancy Pelosi on tariffs and the trade deficit with China.
"On this day, your member of Congress could have drawn the line to say to the President of the United States, do something about this US-China trade relationship that is a job loser for the United States."
Thirty years later and our annual trade deficit is now approximately $300 billion annually with China. Our politicians did nothing to stop this. They sold out America.
Now politicians, including Pelosi, are saying that not only China, but all countries should be able to tariff us and we shouldn't respond in kind.
@rekrap313@Ike_Saul I’m not disagreeing with some of this. You’re arguing with someone who favors UBI which would make welfare programs a thing of the past.
@rekrap313@Ike_Saul Don’t forget that even poor countries have a wealthy class of consumers. Time will tell how competitive our exports can be in a modern high tech world. Over time, labor differences will become less consequential.
@SaveDem79589185@LukePerkins9@Ike_Saul Chinese transportation costs are compensated by cheap labor. A crude rule of thumb is that if it can fit in a shoebox, it’s cheaper to import. Higher tariffs make the box smaller and smaller.
@Ike_Saul Can’t believe no other administration went after this huge trade deficit advantage we had built up as a nation. I have no love for Trump, but the strategy has my interest.
@Ike_Saul Tax cuts also stimulate overall economy. It will be a bumpy/hectic ride. But outcome seems intriguing cuz last 40 years built ridiculous trade deficits. Tariff revenue will dry up if tariffs set too high. Gotta tune it over time. 25% seems like a smart start based on history.
@SaveDem79589185@LukePerkins9@Ike_Saul Used to be 25%. Not hard to imagine the tariff strategy could return it to maybe 15-20% (1990’s level). Low unemployment is also a plausible outcome of the strategy.
