It's funny how quickly this series turned off people who wanted to make her their quirky relatable meme failgirl by just... giving her actual depression.
Way too many people romanticize girl failures, mental illness and addiction. it's why so many are crashing out about Chainsmoker Cat aside from the body fluid gross outs.
It's not uwu quirky kawaii when addiction robs you of your agency, drags you into the pits of depression, and ruin your life completely and thoroughly.
It's the whole delusion of "I can fix her" energy. Women are just as capable as being failures as men.
All of a sudden, a realistic portrayal of a girl failure is created, and people lose their minds because it's breaks the head canon fantasy of what that is. And even then the anime is just a tame version of that.
Personally, I thought the anime was hilarious, and I love dark comedies.

That's the point. It's made to disgust you. Art isn't just a one-way street. Just like it can depict beautiful things, it can depict very ugly & unpleasant things.
Believe it or not, there are REAL people, who live like this, who suffer from crippling depression & aren't evil.
They really made a fighting game that cares more about longevity and building a dedicated player base (achieved through skill expression and execution) over just an easy game that everybody can feel like theyโre good at off the jumpโฆ
