Japan is safe.
But don’t be stupid.
A man in his 40s reportedly went to a nightlife bar in Ueno, Tokyo.
Staff allegedly gave him tequila he never ordered, called it “service,” then demanded money.
When he refused, they allegedly trapped him inside the bar, slapped him, threatened him, and extorted 200,000 yen from him.
Five people have been arrested.
Foreign travelers, remember this:
Never follow street touts.
Never accept “free” drinks without asking the price.
Never stay quiet if a bar refuses to let you leave.
Call the police.
Japan is one of the safest countries in the world.
But safe does not mean scam-free.
Don’t let your vacation turn into a trap. 🇯🇵
