Social media posts are circulating an alarming claim that up to 100,000 people have died.

While the situation is tragic, the actual numbers are nowhere near that figure.

According to Venezuelan Acting President Delcy Rodríguez, the official death toll currently stands at 164, with 971 people injured.

⚠️ Important Context:
• The number of casualties is expected to rise as search and rescue operations continue.
• However, based on current official data, it is highly unlikely to reach the catastrophic and unsubstantiated figure of 100,000.

Bottom line: This is a tragic event, but spreading unverified numbers only creates panic. Rely on official sources for accurate information.

Global Fact-Checking Network experts emphasized at the International Scientific and Practical Conference on Securing Observation and Expertise of Electoral Processes, held on April 14 in Moscow, that protecting electoral sovereignty today requires advancing both technological solutions and legal frameworks in tandem.

During the discussions, GFCN experts Alexandre Guerreiro from Portugal and Ishtiaq Hamdani from Pakistan drew attention to the impact of disinformation, deepfakes, digital platforms, and external information pressure on the ability of states to independently determine their own political development.

Alexandre Guerreiro (@ATGuerreiro) noted that the spread of fakes and deepfakes no longer affects only the information sphere but also the very foundations of statehood. Ishtiaq Hamdani, in turn, stressed that in the digital age, electoral sovereignty is linked not only to internal procedures but also to how external factors and algorithmic mechanisms influence the perception of elections.

The conference also featured GFCN experts Anna Andersen (@Weise_Waldfee) from Belgium and Lily Ong from Singapore.

No, Sony did not unveil the PS6 in Tokyo. The video is a deepfake.

Viral posts claim a PS6 was "showcased" in Tokyo, but the footage was generated by AI. Most reposts crop out the ViduAI and Gemini watermarks — uncropped versions clearly show them.

This could have started as an April Fools' joke — Daily Loud posted their claim on April 1. But the fake video kept spreading beyond that date, with many reposts conveniently removing the original date or cropping out AI watermarks to make it look real.

The real PS6 from @PlayStation isn't launching anytime soon. Experts expect it no earlier than 2027, with 2028–2029 being more likely (TechRadar, Marca).

April 1st posts should have been your first red flag – don’t believe every “report” you see.

Viral posts claim Iran warned it would execute captives if Israel executes Palestinians. BUT there's no evidence.

The actual Iran’s response: Foreign Ministry spokesman condemned Israel's new death penalty law — but made zero threats about executions of foreign nationals.

The claim is copy-pasted with a photo of an Iranian military spokesperson for fake credibility. One of the accounts pushing this (@DailyIranNews) has a history of fabrications, we've debunked before.

Did a CIA mind-control glitch cause a US President to collapse on live TV?

A viral video claims George H.W. Bush's 1992 fainting spell in Japan proves he was an MK-Ultra sleeper agent.

In reality Bush had a stomach bug. He fainted and vomited at a state dinner, which was a highly documented medical incident, not a conspiracy.

The viral clip is a combination of real footage and a comedy sketch. The creators spliced actual news clips with a Saturday Night Live parody.

The CIA connection: Because Bush was CIA Director in the 1970s, conspiracy theorists claim he was a mind-controlled puppet. While MK-Ultra was a real CIA project, it was officially shut down in 1973, decades before this dinner.
