Today, May 14, is Ascension Day!
Following Christmas, Good Friday, and Easter…
Today we celebrate:
1. Jesus’ ascension from the Mountain of Olives
2. His coronation and enthronement
From Suffering Servant to King of all Kings! Hallelujah!
It's hard to know why God is letting you go through the evil and suffering you’re going through right now. But when you see that Christianity is the only faith in which God actually comes down and involves himself in suffering so that someday he can end all suffering and evil without ending us, what this means is this: Though you do not know what the reason for your suffering is, you do know what the reason for your suffering is not. It’s not that he doesn’t love you. – @timkellernyc

Walking through Denver airport today and came upon a quartet singing Christmas carols. When they came to the line "God and sinners reconciled," tears flooded my eyes. A sinner like me reconciled with the Holy and eternal Lord of all. What a glorious and profound reality. I love Christmas.
Rightly so, at Christmas, people who are suffering want to know, “Why should I be merry? What basis do I really have for joy?”
The answer is that if Christmas really happened, if God really did open a cleft in the pitiless walls of this world, if he broke into our broken reality with his healing power, if he became a human being, then there are three solid bases for joy in any circumstance.
If Christmas happened, then even in the deepest grief, you can feel these three things holding you up: 1) our bad things will turn out for good, 2) our most truly good things can never be taken away from us, and 3) our best things are yet to come.

@SixFlagsOverTX This “mild thrill” ride had broad appeal to all ages. In the many dozens of times I rode it, it never failed to bring huge happy smiles to the faces of everyone riding it. What is going to take its place for guests unwilling or unable to ride more “extreme” attractions?
How it started: "AI vibe coding tools will replace devs!"
How it's going:
"Do this:
- Provide it w a detailed spec
- Break down tasks to small ones
- Separate dev and prod envs
- Do NOT give access to the agent to prod
- Never trust the agent; verify every step it takes

This Fourth of July, let us reflect with gratitude on the extraordinary nation in which we are privileged to live in. The Fourth is not just a celebration of our independence. It is a celebration of the enduring principles that define America: liberty, the rule of law, the pursuit of happiness, and the courage to strive for a more perfect union. These ideals have guided us through times of trial and triumph alike, and they remain our compass today. Happy birthday, America 🇺🇸
I really miss the golden age of Hollywood/ behind the scenes of a working studio theme. The new franchise land theme, rather than exploring the nostalgia of classic cinema and production processes really suffers in my opinion. We really lost something great.
In the 1549 BCP as well as in 1559, daily readings (public and private) covered nearly the entire Old Testament once and the New Testament thrice in a year. On top of that, the Psalms were to be read once a month. Scripture immersion was ordinary Protestant spiritual formation.
Nothing more important for a Christian to do than to read right through the whole Bible over and over and over, at the very least once a year. You have to keep checking and refining your beliefs by immersion in the Scripture.
