Remembering those we lost on this day in 1996 in a plane crash in Dubrovnik while they were leading a US government trade mission to the Balkans.
They were sons and daughters, brothers and sisters, mothers and fathers, colleagues and mentors, but most of all dear friends and dedicated patriots who represented the best of America and died in service to their country.

Today, we pay tribute to the lives lost in a tragic plane crash near Dubrovnik, Croatia, during a trade mission. We remember Commerce Secretary Ron Brown, the 11 Commerce employees, and 23 U.S. and Croatian citizens who perished.
