3) Your last sentence is the exact kind of thing, that doesn’t turn down temperature, but instead sounds like a dog whistle to the most delusional people on the fringe.

That’s the point here.

99% if “the left” has said Kirk’s killing was awful and unacceptable.

99% of the right, are good people who also don’t want violence.

But saying something is “win or die” is the exact kind of thing that some mentally ill loser will latch on to, taking it as a call to arms, whether you intend it or not.

You have a uniquely powerful voice in the moment, and have actually started to advocate for turning down the temperature and disavowing violence.

Please don’t walk away from that - I truly hope you continue to use that, and know, that most Americans, on all lots of life, think Kirk’s assassination was heinous and unforgivable.

But when you tell a community they are playing a glorified “war” some crazies are going to believe that, and that’s what people are blaming.
