Saab Steps Up Campaign to Win Canada’s Gripen Fighter Jet Deal.
Saab is intensifying its campaign to secure Canada as a customer for the Gripen fighter jet, offering a broad package of industrial, economic, and strategic benefits.
Inside Saab’s Gripen final-assembly facility in Linköping, Sweden, the flags of its eight customer nations are displayed above the production line. A ninth position features a white banner marked “RESERVED” in bold red letters.
When asked whether the reserved spot was intended for Canada, a Saab official simply smiled, shrugged, and declined to comment.
Behind the scenes, however, Saab is making a major push to convince Canada to become the Gripen’s next international customer.
